Arthur
Edwin Fillingham was the son of Arthur Herbert Fillingham and Kate
Fillingham of 3, The Crescent, Street Lane, Roundhay, Leeds. West
Yorkshire. From age 10 to 15, he held a choral scholarship at Linclon
Cathedral and then attended Leeds Modern School where he also played
cricket for the school. Wounded on the 1st of May 1916, he returned to the battalion in time to take part in the July offensive (Battle of the Somme) and like so many 'Pals', was reported killed in action. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial in France. |
