Born Manchester 1893.
Died of wounds 9/6/1917. Age 24.

James Thompson Hall was the only son of Mrs Beatrice Hall of Hollin House, Moorhead Road, Shipley, and the late Henry Herron Hall, Formerly of Leeds.

Born in Manchester and educated at the Leeds Modern School, until his parents moved to Shipley when he then attended Salts School.
On leaving school he entered the service of the Union of London and Smiths Bank.

He enlisted with the "Pals"in September 1914, and was made Corporal and attached to A Company, No 4 platoon as a signaller where his company commander was 2nd Lieutenant Major Booth.

He served with the "Pals" in Colsterdale, Egypt and France, and after two and a half years was sent to officer cadet school on the 2nd of April 1917. 
After several weeks officer training he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant into the 8th battalion, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI) and posted to France.
He had only been back in France for two weeks when he was wounded and taken to Etaples Military Hospital, where he died of his wounds.

He lies in Etaples military cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
