Died: France 10th June 1916

Reginald Earl Laxton was the fourth son of Mr and Mrs George Wright Laxton, Woollen manufacturer and president of the Dewsbury junior Conservative association.

“Rex” was educated at Bridlington Grammar School, and Dresden, and before war broke out was engaged in the wool business with Mr WC Gaunt of Bradford.

In September 1914, along with his brother, Charles Fraser Laxton, made the short journey to the Leeds town hall, and enlisted into the Leeds Pals.

Rex was given the rank of L/Cpl and posted to B Company, whose commanding officer was Major LP Baker.

On the 12th May 1915, Reginald represented his company in 2 events at the regimental sports day.

L/Cpl RE Laxton only served with the pals at Colsterdale, because on the 26th June 1915, he, along with his brother Charles Fraser Laxton, secured commissions and were both posted as 2/Lieutenants into the 16th Battalion, The West Yorkshire Regiment, 1st Bradford Pals.

Although not serving with them anymore he still spent time with them, as both the 15th and 16th battalions formed part of the 31st division.

On the 10th June 1916, whilst attached to the 93rd Trench Mortar Battery, 2/Lt RE Laxton was killed in action.

Reginald is buried in Bertrancourt Military Cemetery, France.
